There’s something rather special about waking up on the water – especially when the day ahead promises adventure, learning and plenty of family fun. Our Introduction to Yacht Sailing or learn to sail holiday is designed to be relaxed, confidence building, and above all, family friendly, so everyone from curious kids to first time adults feels right at home. Learn to Sail a yacht in Greece on holiday !

A Gentle Start to the Day
Our days usually begin around 9am, after a leisurely breakfast ashore or onboard. Your friendly, experienced skipper joins you for the day and remains onboard throughout all sailing activities, offering reassurance, guidance, and a calm presence – perfect for families new to sailing. In the evenings, the skipper hops off, giving you privacy and time together as a family.
Mornings are often spent close to home in the harbour, where we focus on the foundations of confident boat handling. This is where everyone gets involved. Under your skipper’s guidance, you’ll practice leaving the mooring, coming back in safely, picking up a buoy, and coming alongside – all at a relaxed pace and adapted to suit adults and children alike. There’s no pressure, just encouragement, laughter and lots of “let’s try that again.”

Sailing, Swimming & Secluded Beaches
By late morning, it’s time to set sail. We head out into the stunning Gulf of Argostoli, letting the sails do the work as we make our way toward a beautiful bay or quiet beach.
Lunch is usually a picnic at anchor – the kind children love – followed by plenty of time for swimming, snorkelling or simply floating around enjoying the crystal clear Greek water.
For many families, this is a highlight of the day: anchoring in a peaceful spot, jumping straight off the boat and enjoying the best of life aboard.

Afternoon Breezes & Building Skills
As the afternoon breeze fills in, it’s the perfect time to practice sailing techniques. Whether it’s learning how the sails work, having a go at steering, or understanding how to balance the boat, your skipper makes it engaging and accessible for all ages. Kids love feeling involved, and adults gain real confidence without it ever feeling like a classroom.
We usually return to base around 4pm, leaving plenty of time to unwind.

Learn to Sail in Greece Without the Pressure
Back ashore, there’s a relaxed debrief where we chat through the day and cover some useful sailing theory. This might include basic engine checks, simple rope work, and safety essentials such as emergency equipment and VHF radio skills (including how to make a Mayday call). It’s informal, practical, and ideal for families wanting to learn together.
If you’d like to take things a step further, you can also work towards your International Crew qualification or the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) while onboard – a fantastic option for parents (and older teens) who want a recognised qualification alongside their holiday, so you can go on and skipper boats as part of a flotilla or bare boat charter.

Evenings Made for Families
With the skipper heading off for the evening, the rest of the day is yours. Enjoy a well earned drink, head to the nearby beach club, take a dip in the sea or head across to Argostili for dinner. Some nights, weather permitting, we’ll even stay on anchor – an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike, falling asleep beneath the incredible Greek stars.

Family Sailing At It’s Best
Throughout the week, you’ll explore numerous bays and beaches, build skills without stress and share experiences that bring the whole family closer. It’s not just about learning to sail – it’s about adventure, confidence and creating memories that last long after the holiday ends.
If you’ve ever thought sailing might be “not for you” or “not for the kids,” this is the holiday that proves otherwise.
