Expect sunshine, 30 degrees and glorious alpine meadows (and sic mtb trails).
Where ?
We LOVE Vaujany (near Alpe D’Heuz), with 300 days of sunshine per year, it’s a paradise for walking, biking and multi-activity holidays in the French Alps. Mid July offers some of the best summer conditions in the Alps, with warm days, open lift systems and plenty of options for getting out into the mountains, whether on foot or by bike. Vaujany has a good balance of atmosphere and space, and the week coincides with the Tour de France finishing in nearby Alpe d’Huez at the end of the stay – a great way to end the week!
Drive, train or fly (Lyon)
Who is it for ?
Gentle rambles from the chalet to the waterfall or epic alpine stomps above 2500m, there’s something for everyone. For those who love a challenge, try cycling some of the world’s most famous cols or hit the local bike parks and mountain bike trails. Adrenaline junkies can give white-water rafting or via ferrata a go, while kids will love the treetop adventure park, archery, swimming, ice skating and more.
And the best part? Not every day has to be full throttle. Some afternoons are best spent in the chalet garden, sharing a slice of cake and a cup of tea with a friendly game of ping pong as the sun sets behind the peaks.
The Chalet
Our two interconnecting luxury chalets sleep up to 21 guests have a large private garden with a table tennis table, and a hot tub, perfect for groups and families wanting to play garden games and BBQ into the sunset. There is enough space in the dining room for up to 24 adults, so plenty of space when the sun goes down.

Le Tour de France !
At the end of the week (24 & 25 July), the Tour de France comes to Alpe d’Huez.
- Take lifts up the mountain to watch the stage

- Kick back and soak up the atmosphere with a cold drink in the square
It’s a rare chance to see one of the most famous Tour stages live, with a good atmosphere in the area across both days – definitely not to be missed!
