The island of Evia in Greece is in a peaceful location, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Athens. Part of the Aegean islands and just off the eastern coast of the mainland, it's popular for its hiking trails and outdoor activities. Evia is still, however, relatively undiscovered by international tourists.
Towards the southern end of Evia's lovely west coast is Nea Stira, a small seaside town about a 15-minute walk from our new Stira Bay Beach Club. It has some beautiful sandy beaches and a car-free promenade lined with quirky cafes, shops, and fantastic fish tavernas.
This beautiful island (also known as Euboea), the second-largest after Crete, has an inviting blend of traditional Greek culture and breathtaking landscapes. Evia’s diverse terrain includes lush forests, picturesque mountains, fertile plains, and beautiful beaches. The northern part of the island is dominated by the towering Dirfi mountain, while the southern part offers more gentle hills and valleys.
Evia is known for its pristine coastline, with a wide variety of beaches. Evia’s history is deeply rooted in Greek mythology, as it is believed to be the birthplace of the mythical hero Achilles. The island has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Neolithic period. Over the centuries, it has been influenced by various civilizations, including the Ancient Greeks, Romans and Venetians.
