Our second BB holiday. Last year was incredible in Lixouri Bay, Greece - super chilled and fun with plenty to do and lovely staff and families. It was so good we nearly went there again but instead this year we went to Vaujany in the Alps for a different type of adventure. There are SO many activities to choose but Freek and Eliza at the chalet were always on hand to help recommend, organise and book them for us. We did mountain biking, mountain walks, white water rafting, zip lines, skate parks, the incredible Via Ferrata, paddle boarding, swimming, table tennis, boules.. the list goes on.... and there were lots of other activities we didn't have time for that we will have to come back and do another time! There are great experiences and new challenges for all - young and old. Our 12 yo son loved every minute, made lots of new friends and, like last year in Greece, it has been a hugely positive experience for him. The chalet was beautiful and all the other families were very friendly - there is a good community spirit about the place. There is a beautiful garden to relax in after a long day too. Thanks so much to everyone at BB.. always going above and beyond to ensure a wonderful time is had by all. Keep up the amazing work and we look forward to our next holiday with you! X
Alpine Family Club
What we say
Summer in the French Alps is all about fresh air, sunshine and activities. Staying at our traditional alpine chalet feels more like visiting friends than being in a hotel, with home-cooked food, friendly hosts and a relaxed atmosphere.
Gentle rambles from the chalet to the waterfall, or epic alpine stomps above 2500m: there's something for everyone. For those who love a challenge, try cycling some of the world's most famous cols, or hit the local bike parks and mountain bike trails. Adrenaline junkies can give white water rafting, canyoning or via ferrata a go.
And the best part? Not every day has to be full throttle. Some afternoons are best spent in the chalet garden, sharing a slice of cake and a cup of tea with a friendly game of ping pong as the sun sets behind the peaks.
What's included
Note: Flights & transfers are not included, but we do provide a free travel planner to book both for you with ATOL protection.

Activities & Kids Clubs
Food & drink
Food at Maison Rostaing is half the holiday. Fresh baguettes every morning, homemade cakes in the chalet garden at 4:30, three proper evening meals cooked by the hosts (one outdoors on the BBQ), and two fully-equipped kitchens if you'd rather make your own. Vaujany village is a 1km stroll for everything else.
7 breakfasts, afternoon tea & cakes every day, 3 evening meals (including BBQ) with wine, welcome drinks. Lunches and 4 evening meals are pay-as-you-go.

Afternoon tea in the garden
At 4:30 each day the hosts put out a homemade cake, a pot of tea and a few jugs of cold water in the chalet garden. Kids come off the trampoline, grown-ups come off the bikes, and everyone sits down for half an hour with the sun behind the peaks. It's the small ritual guests mention most on their way home.
Le Chalet Gourmand
1 km walkCreative French cuisine and mountain specialities in Vaujany centre. One of the hosts' top picks for a night out.
La Remise
1 km walkFriendly pizzeria with a wood-fired oven in the village. Big portions, good for the kids.

Itinerary
Alpine Family Club is built to be flexible: plan what you want from the active pack, use the lift pass on your own schedule, and let the afternoon tea anchor the day. The sketch below is how most first-time families balance the week.

Vaujany
Steeped in traditional Alpine history, Vaujany is a beautifully preserved village high in the French Alps, offering a quieter, family-friendly alternative to the big-name resorts. Part of the Alpe d'Huez ski area, it delivers year-round adventure in the mountains without the crowds.
Getting there
Vaujany is in the heart of the French Alps, 1 hour by car from Grenoble and about 2 hours from both Lyon and Geneva airports. Most of our summer guests drive from the UK and bring their bikes; the train is a lovely alternative via TGV to Grenoble and a short onward transfer.

We take the hassle out of flights and transfers with an ATOL-protected package if you'd rather not organise it yourself. Our ATOL licence is 12803.
Lyon (LYS) is the most convenient airport; Geneva (GVA) is a similar drive and often has more direct options. The resort is also reachable by TGV to Grenoble (3 hours from Paris) plus a 1 hr transfer. Many guests drive from the UK via Calais (570 miles, doable in a day).
Drive if you can. Bringing your own bike, being able to stop at a proper French supermarket on the way in, and having wheels for the week is hard to beat. If you're not driving, the TGV to Grenoble + a transfer to Vaujany is our favourite hands-off option.
Guest reviews
We’ve just returned from the most incredible mountain biking holiday in the Alps, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, everyone was made to feel so welcome. Travelling with our two boys, it was important that they felt included too, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The whole trip was brilliantly organised, with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that made it easy to switch off and enjoy every moment. Our hosts were incredibly kind, accommodating, and genuinely cared that everyone had the best possible experience. The riding was fantastic, the scenery was breathtaking, and the overall experience exceeded all our expectations. It was the perfect mix of adventure, fun, and relaxation for the whole family. Thank you for such an unforgettable holiday—we’re already looking forward to coming back!
Our Second Amazing Stay with Beyond Beach! Just returned from our second summer holiday with Beyond Beach in Vaujany - James and Susie have outdone themselves again! As the business owners, they provided such personal, hands-on service that makes all the difference. James was absolutely awesome, welcoming us back like old friends with fantastic local recommendations. Susie was more than accommodating, remembering details from our first visit and going above and beyond throughout our stay. It's rare to find business owners so personally invested in their guests' experiences. The chalet was perfect, Vaujany was stunning, but it's James and Susie's genuine care and attention that makes Beyond Beach truly special. Second visit down, definitely not our last! When you find this level of excellence and personal touch, you become a loyal customer for life. Highly recommend Beyond Beach for anyone wanting an exceptional Alpine summer experience!
