Dinghy Sailing

RS Picos, Fevas and Lasers at every beach club. Reliable thermals, rescue cover and RYA tuition included.

Browse holidays featuring this activity

Dinghy sailing at BeyondBeach is RYA-recognised, coached and included in the week. Our beach clubs in Kefalonia and Evia carry modern RS Picos, RS Fevas and a handful of Lasers for guests who want to push harder. You'll find instructors on the beach every session and a rescue RIB on the water whenever the club is open.

Reliable afternoon thermals build from the north-west around 11am and hold until sunset, perfect for a blast across the bay or a coached upwind lesson. Mornings are flatter, so that's when beginner sessions run from the sheltered launch at Lixouri or Stira.

For complete beginners we run RYA Youth Sailing Scheme and Start Sailing weeks with qualified instructors. Intermediate sailors can book a coached progression week, or just free-sail and turn up for gybing tips when the wind fills in.

Dinghy sailing pairs beautifully with a full watersports week at Lixouri Bay Beach Club or Stira Bay Beach Club. If you'd rather a full day on a bigger boat, see our Day Yacht Sailing option from the Kefalonia base.

Beginner

First-timer friendly

We focus on the basics in a relaxed environment with stunning water. As part of the inclusive group support clinics we cover safe sailing and shallow-water capsize drills, rigging and sail reefing, launching and landing, tacking and gybing, sailing in all points of sail, plus a little theory so the practical side clicks into place.

Intermediate

Build technique in breezy afternoons

If you can sail around a triangular course and tack and gybe, this is for you. Boost your confidence in moderate winds and practise intermediate skills that sharpen overall technique. We pretty much have the sailing area to ourselves, so it is a stress-free environment to work on carve gybes and foot-strap control. Support takes place from the safety boats.

Advanced

Specific advanced clinics

We run advanced clinics for experienced dinghy sailors looking to improve. Flying spinnakers, roll tacks, trapeze work, race techniques and trim are some of the more advanced skills we will aim to cover.

Every day

Support Clinics

Free group tuition that meets you where you are. Early in the week we focus on beginners, progressing to more advanced skills as the week goes on. Theory, land and water demos, then as much water time as the conditions allow.

End of the week

Inclusive Regatta Day

Everyone loves a race, and everyone can get involved in our weekly regattas at Lixouri Bay and Stira Bay. Sign up, choose your weapon, and race around the set course.

Half-day excursion

Inclusive Sail-Away Days

Swallows and Amazons without the raincoats. Set the sails on our fleet of brand-new RS dinghies and hop across the bay to hidden coves and secluded beaches. Support boat, friendly beach staff and an ice box stuffed with cold drinks.

RS Quest

2 to 4 person dinghy. Big enough for an instructor and 2 or 3 pupils, small enough to handle easily ashore and afloat. Roto-moulded polyethylene construction. Reefing, asymmetric spinnaker, trapeze and stowage.

RS Neo

Single-hander with a sparkling performance, easy handling and real durability. Maximum reward for minimum hassle. A step up in speed without the demands of more radical designs.

RS Zest

Compact boat for two or single-handing. Class-leading space for two sailors yet small enough for convenient single-handing. A great introduction to the wonderful world of sailing.

RS 500

High-performance trapeze double-hander, only available at Lixouri Bay Beach Club. Fast, exciting, used in world championship racing. Intermediate to advanced only.

Topper Topaz Uno

Versatile sailing system with a breathtaking range of rig options, from simple single-hander to new-generation gennaker. Easy to handle, very robust and an ideal family multi-purpose dinghy.

Topper Argo

Spacious sit-in sailboat with an asymmetric spinnaker rig and optional single trapeze. Ideal for teaching, learning, club racing and recreational family sailing.

Topper Omega

As happy sailed one-up, two-up or seven-up. Stability and performance combined with reefing and easy control systems make the Omega the ultimate multi-purpose family sailboat.

What our guests say

Real people. Real holidays.

One of the best beach holidays I have had for many years. My son and I have a regular annual sailing holiday and this was superb. The place is extremely well managed by Hugo and Local Greek family and it really does feel like you are staying with friends, highly recommended

Call the team on 01548 288459 Mon-Fri 9am-6pm or Sat 9am-1pm, or send an enquiry from any holiday page. We talk you through availability, dates and extras, email a written quote, and you confirm with a deposit. No online cart , every booking has a human on our side of it.

Deposits are typically 25% of the holiday cost at time of booking, with the balance due around ten weeks before departure. Flights pay in full at booking. Your written quote spells out the exact figures and dates before you pay anything.

Flights are quoted alongside the holiday rather than bundled, so you only pay for the routing that works for you. We'll match flights to your preferred dates from your preferred UK airport, or if you'd rather book your own flights we can work around your schedule.

Yes. Our weeks run Saturday to Saturday by default but we can extend, combine two weeks back-to-back (flotilla followed by a beach-club week is a favourite), or add a pre- or post-holiday night somewhere. Mention it when you enquire and we will build the itinerary.

UK debit and credit card (no surcharge on debit), bank transfer, or Trust My Travel for protected payments. We do not accept cash. Card payments are processed by Stripe and never stored by us.

Yes, and we rarely charge for it if there is time before departure. Name changes, room upgrades, adding a child, swapping a cabin , tell us what you need. Some supplier charges (flight name changes, for example) are unavoidable but we'll quote those upfront.

Yes, and families are a big part of what we do. Beach clubs have free kids watersports from age six, the Alpine Family Club runs a kids club from 6 months to 16 years, and ski school programmes teach in English from age three. Cots, high chairs and interconnecting rooms are available on request.

Absolutely. Singles Sailing is purpose-built for solo travellers (no single supplement , you'll share a cabin with another solo sailor). On beach club weeks, yoga and BlitzFitness are especially popular with solo bookers, and we waive the single supplement on most weeks outside July and August school holidays.

Yes. Intro to Sailing is designed for complete beginners , no experience needed. Every beach club has coached clinics included daily and RYA-qualified instruction at the watersports centre. Ski school teaches English from Day One green-runs up. We'll match you to the right level on arrival.

Yes. West Coast Flotilla and Yacht Charter are aimed squarely at sailors with miles under the keel. Val Thorens and the Three Valleys cover expert-level off-piste with a guide. We'll discuss your experience at the quote stage so the week matches your expectations.

No. Our clubs are all-inclusive but not all-you-can-eat , a lot of guests use one activity a day and spend the rest of the time reading by the pool. The programme is a menu, not a timetable. You decide what you do.
