Windsurfing & Watersports Holidays in Greece

Warm water, reliable afternoon thermals and free kit make Greece a brilliant place to windsurf, wingfoil and sail. Here is where to go, the wind, and how the weeks work.

Windsurfing & Watersports Holidays in Greece

Greece is one of the most reliable and forgiving places in Europe to windsurf. The water is warm, the bays are sheltered, and a dependable afternoon thermal builds most summer days while mornings stay flat for beginners. We run windsurfing and watersports from two Greek beach clubs, with the kit free to use and daily coaching included.

Where can you windsurf in Greece?

At our two beach clubs: Lixouri Bay on the calm Paliki peninsula of Kefalonia, our flagship spot for afternoon thermals from May to early October, and Stira Bay on the island of Evia, which has consistent summer winds and an RYA beach team. Each bay is chosen for reliable wind, a sheltered launch and a sandy beach.

What is the wind like?

The classic Greek pattern: flat, calm mornings, then a thermal sea breeze that builds through the late morning and holds into the evening. Mornings are when beginner lessons run from the sheltered launch; the afternoon breeze is when improvers get planing. It is rarely overpowering, which is what makes it so good for learning and progressing.

What watersports are included?

At the beach clubs the use of all the kit is free: windsurfing, wingfoiling, dinghy and catamaran sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and more, with daily group coaching. See our spokes on learning to windsurf and wingfoiling.

Is it good for beginners and families?

Very. Free kit, daily coaching, flat mornings and kids clubs make our beach clubs ideal for first-timers and families, while the afternoon thermals keep improvers happy. For the family angle see our family watersports guide, and for the wider Kefalonia picture, our watersports in Kefalonia spoke.
