Just returned from a fantastic week at the Venus Beach Hotel in Styra Bay and wanted to say what a great time all of us had! It's a lovely relaxed place, with loads of activities available, not just sea based, so it had plenty to offer the whole family - we were a party of 9, with 3 generations, some with zero on water experience and some with loads, but all managed to have fun and learn new things. The on water team were really enthusiastic and helpful (not forgetting competent!), as were the hotel staff. I hesitate to recommend it because I want to keep it to myself, but that would just be selfish!
Stira Bay Beach Club
What we say
"Tucked away on the peaceful western coast of beautiful Evia island, this charming family-run hotel is a hidden gem. It's a tranquil spot with a cool vibe, knock-out sunsets, sandy beaches and excellent wind stats".
Comfy rooms are nestled on the hillside amongst the scented pines and colourful oleanders, and the crystal clear waters are great for swimming and snorkelling.
The island's consistent summer winds are a gift for watersports enthusiasts, and the surrounding villages are a must to explore by mountain bike or on foot. Our RYA-recognised watersports centre is stacked with first-class kit, and our incredibly friendly team of Beachies are always ready to help with a smile.

More infoFood & drink
All breakfasts, 2 sunset beach BBQs, 1 buffet night and welcome drinks are included. Lunch is pay-as-you-go at Lefka taverna or the beach bar.

We love the food
At the club you can expect to taste an excellent variety of locally sourced and fresh ingredients, served at the beachfront Lefka taverna and bar. From classic Greek kitchen dishes, seasonal salads and freshly grilled sardines to a hearty club hamburger, we cater for all dietary requirements, fussy eaters and of course the kids !
Nea Styra
15 to 20 min walkSome of the best fish tavernas in the Greek islands. Get there early and settle down for a wonderful seafood eating experience. Only a 20 minute stroll along the beach from the club.
Old Styra
5 to 10 min taxiWonderful traditional tavernas around the square and under the cool branches of a very old oak tree in the village in the hills. The atmosphere is relaxing and the food sensational. Proper Greek grill houses ! Not to be missed.

Itinerary
Support sessions run across the day with paddle and sailing excursions mid-morning and group coaching in the afternoons. There is plenty to keep you busy, and plenty of breathing room to do nothing at all.
The Safety Briefing at the start of the week is mandatory for anyone who wants to go on the water. Kit is available from 10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 18:00. The schedule below is a guide; resort chalkboards carry the latest daily programme.

Evia
The island of Evia in Greece is in a peaceful location, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Athens. Part of the Aegean islands and just off the eastern coast of the mainland, it's popular for its hiking trails and outdoor activities. Evia is still, however, relatively undiscovered by international tourists.
Getting there
Flights & transfers are not usually included in our holiday packages.

Many guests do however choose to take advantage of our Travel Planner by booking their flights with us for the peace of mind of an ATOL protected holiday and, of course, for the added convenience. Our ATOL license 12803 ensures that the whole holiday, including flights, is protected.
Athens airport (ATH) is served year-round from most UK airports. Lots of guests decide to spend a few days visiting Athens either side of their week at the club which works really well. We're happy to help organise this with you
Book transfers pre-arrival — the airport is pretty busy. We provide a meet & greet service and private taxis or mini-buses. On arrival it is roughly a 50 minute drive to Agia Marina, then a short, frequent ferry across the channel to Evia (40 mins), and a 5 minute hop to the club. For many guests, the ferry is a highlight of the whole holiday.

Frequently asked questions
For the activities, there’s no need to pre-book anything before you travel. On your first morning at the Beach Club, our team will run through everything during the welcome briefing, and you’ll then have the chance to sign up for the activities you’d like to do. It’s all handled in resort by our brilliant team, so you can settle in, see what you fancy, and plan your week once you’re there.
There are 3 evening meals included in your holiday. For the remaining 4 evenings, you’ll have plenty of lovely options. You can choose to stay at the hotel and enjoy the buffet or bar menu, but most guests love heading into Nea Styra or Old Styra to try some of the fantastic local tavernas. It’s a lovely way to experience more of the area and enjoy proper Greek food by the sea. As a rough guide, a main dish in a local taverna is usually around €10 to €14, depending on what you choose. For lunch, there is a Greek taverna at the hotel serving delicious traditional dishes, as well as the hotel bar, which offers lighter meals and snacks such as pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches. Lunch is usually around €8 to €12, depending on what you order.
