When you imagine the perfect family watersports holiday, what comes to mind?

Warm sunshine. Crystal-clear water. Kids racing down to the beach before breakfast. Parents enjoying their morning coffee with sea views.

At a BB beach club, every day brings a new adventure — whether that’s learning to sail, paddleboarding along the coast, or simply enjoying a relaxed afternoon by the sea.

But what does a typical day on a family watersports holiday actually look like?

Let’s take a closer look.

8:00am – Breakfast by the Beach

The day starts slowly. The sea is calm, the sun is already warming the terrace, and families begin to gather for breakfast overlooking the water. Kids are usually the first to spot the activity boards for the day.

“Can we go dinghy sailing this morning?”
“Let’s try paddleboarding again!”

Parents sip coffee while the excitement builds for the day ahead.

One of the best things about family watersports holidays is that everything is right on your doorstep — the beach, the equipment, and the instructors ready to help you get started.

9:30am – The Beach Comes Alive

As the morning begins, the beach club becomes the centre of the action. Sun cream on. Buoyancy aids are fastened. Colourful sails appear across the bay. Children join their activity groups while instructors help them get ready for their morning session.

Typical morning activities might include:

DInghy Sailing lessons for kids learning the basics.

Windsurfing sessions for older children and teens.

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) for families to try together.

Kayaking trips exploring nearby coves.

Wingsurfing and foiling taster sessions.

Activities are designed for all abilities, so complete beginners feel comfortable while more confident young sailors continue developing their skills. Meanwhile, parents often take the chance to try a new activity themselves.

12:30pm – Lunch and Relaxation

After a busy morning on the water, it’s time to refuel. Lunch at a beach club is usually relaxed and social, with plenty of family-friendly options, home cooked with local produce.

Conversations are full of excitement:

“I nearly stood up on the paddleboard!”
“We won the sailing race!”

The early afternoon is the perfect time to slow things down a little.

Families might spend this time swimming in the sea, snorkelling along the shoreline, building sandcastles, beach volley ball or just relaxing on the beach with a book.

It’s this mix of activity and downtime that makes watersports holidays work so well for families.

3:00pm – Afternoon Adventures

As the afternoon breeze picks up, the beach club springs back into action. This is often when the more adventurous activities begin. Each of our beach clubs are ever so slightly different, so depending on each club location at Lixouri Bay, Stira Bay or Feel Viana families might try:

Catamaran sailing

Giant paddleboards

Surfing

Snorkelling trips

Foiling

RYA courses

Kids who join activity programmes often progress throughout the week, learning new techniques and building confidence on the water. By the end of the holiday, many kids are confidently helming their own sailing boats across the bay.

6:30pm – Sunset by the Sea

As the sun begins to set, the pace slows once again. The beach becomes quieter, families gather for showers and dinner, and the sky turns shades of pink and gold. Evenings on a family watersports holiday are all about spending time together.

Think:

Sunset beach walks

Relaxed dinners overlooking the sea

Family quizzes or entertainment

Planning tomorrow’s adventures

Why Family Watersports Holidays Are So Popular

Family watersports holidays combine adventure, relaxation, and quality time together.

They’re ideal for families because:

Activities are safe and beginner-friendly

Kids can learn new skills with expert instructors

Parents can be as active or relaxed as they like

Everything takes place right by the beach

Most importantly, they create the kind of shared experiences that families remember long after the holiday ends.
