The French Alps are not just for winter. In summer the mountains turn green and cool, the lifts open for walkers and bikers, and it becomes one of the best family adventure playgrounds in Europe. Our Alpine Family Club is built around exactly this.
What do families do in the Alps in summer?
Plenty: hiking and gentler valley walks, mountain biking, white-water rafting, swimming, and exploring mountain villages, with the lift system opening up the high trails. Days are active but flexible, and the cool mountain air is a relief from a hot beach for some families.
Is there a kids club?
Yes. The Alpine Family Club runs a dedicated kids club, so children are happily occupied while parents head out on a longer walk or bike ride, with homemade cake in the garden at the end of the day. It is a 7-night summer week in a traditional converted alpine farmhouse in Vaujany, near Alpe d'Huez.
Who is it for?
Families who want an active, sociable week in the mountains, including those new to the Alps. The mix of easy and adventurous activities means younger children and teenagers are both catered for.
