Atlantic surf, a cooler week.

Cabedelo is the only Portuguese site we run, and it does one thing very well: a serious watersports programme on Atlantic water, with a kit list weighted towards surf, kitesurf and SUP rather than the dinghies and windsurfs of the Greek bays. Feel Viana sits at the mouth of the Lima river just south of Viana do Castelo, an hour north of Porto. The river side is glassy and flat for SUP and beginner kit; the ocean side gets clean rolling waves with the right swell.

The character is more boutique than the Greek clubs. The food is Portuguese-modern, the rooms lean architectural, and the day is built around morning sessions and afternoon recovery rather than the all-day-on-the-beach rhythm of Lixouri or Stira. The week is best for active couples and small families who want an Atlantic-coast holiday with the watersports kit already paid for.

One site, two coasts.

Feel Viana is built on the Lima estuary, with a flat-water river side for tuition and an ocean beach over the dunes for surf and kite.

Feel Viana is a converted boat yard at the mouth of the Lima river. The watersports centre is on the riverbank, a 4-minute walk from the rooms; the ocean beach is over the dunes, 10 minutes on foot. SUP, kayaks and beginner windsurfs go out on the river; surf and kitesurf lessons run on the ocean. Portuguese-leaning food, modern architecture, an outdoor 25m pool. Best for active couples, small families with older kids, and surfers who want a hosted week rather than a self-catered surf camp.

Atlantic kit, modern host.

Plain-English pricing, qualified instructors, the same booking team for every enquiry. Phone 01548 288459 Mon-Fri 9am-6pm.

Feel Viana runs to a different rhythm than the Greek clubs. The morning is the active block: surf or kite lesson on the ocean, SUP or windsurf tuition on the river, yoga in the studio. Afternoon is calmer, partly because the wind picks up and partly because Portuguese coastal culture leans late. Dinner runs from 8pm, full plates, half-board.

Kit included: surfboards (foam and hard), wetsuits, SUPs, kayaks, beginner windsurf rigs and kite gear under instructor supervision. Tuition is included for the headline activities; advanced kite and surf private lessons are bookable alongside. Yoga and Pilates are included in the daily programme. There is no kids club at Feel Viana; the site works best for adults, couples and families with kids ten and up.

Flights run to Porto from most UK airports; the transfer to Cabedelo is about 80 minutes. The team builds flights into the quote rather than bundling them into the price, so you see exactly what each piece costs.

What our guests say

Real people. Real holidays.

One of the best beach holidays I have had for many years. My son and I have a regular annual sailing holiday and this was superb. The place is extremely well managed by Hugo and Local Greek family and it really does feel like you are staying with friends, highly recommended

Just returned from another learn to sail, excellent tuition from Shirley ,used this company for many years now and always a good experience. Hope to return next year for yacht delivery and a flotilla.

Wonderful holiday in a beautiful location.Friendly, competent staff, many activities on offer, very good safety support for all water sports. Would love to see Optimists introduced for younger children learning to sail!

Yes. The river side of the site is sheltered and shallow, which is the right environment for first-time SUP, windsurf or kayak sessions. Beginner surf lessons run on the inside of the ocean beach where the waves are gentler. The instructor team is qualified and used to taking guests from never-touched-a-board to standing up and turning over a one-week course.

No. Feel Viana does not run a structured kids club. The site is best for adults, couples and families with kids around ten and up who can join the main watersports lessons. For younger families, our Greek beach clubs at Lixouri and Stira are a better fit.

Atlantic, so cooler than Greece on the same date. Air temperatures range from the high teens in May to the high twenties in August. Water is cooler year-round; wetsuits are part of the kit list and worn most sessions. The wind that makes the kit work also keeps the air moving, which is why the week reads more refreshing than scorching.

No. Flights are quoted alongside the holiday rather than bundled in. Porto has direct service from most UK airports and the transfer to Cabedelo is about 80 minutes. The team matches your departure airport when they build the quote.
