Extend Your Family Beach Club Holiday: 5 Kefalonia Spots You Won’t Want to Miss

You’ve spent an incredible family watersports week at our Lixouri Bay Beach Club – but why pack up your memories just yet? Extending your stay in Kefalonia gives you the chance to uncover hidden villages, secret beaches, and breathtaking landscapes beyond the resort. Here are our top five spots to explore for a few extra days of island magic:

watersports holidays in Greece , sailing dinghies, windsurfing and more

1. Assos Village

A drive north from the beach club, Assos is a picturesque village built around a Venetian castle. Wander through its pastel-colored houses, enjoy a seafood lunch by the harbor, and hike up to the castle ruins for panoramic views of the Ionian Sea. It’s a peaceful escape from the busier tourist areas.

2. Myrtos Beach

No trip to Kefalonia is complete without visiting Myrtos Beach, often called one of Greece’s most beautiful beaches. Its turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs, and white pebble shoreline make it perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and capturing Instagram worthy shots. Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon helps you avoid the crowds.

3. Mount Ainos National Park

For nature lovers and adventure seekers, a trip to Mount Ainos is a must. Hike through dense forests of fir and cypress, spot the rare wild horses, and take in sweeping views of Kefalonia and the surrounding Ionian Sea. It’s a great day trip for families or anyone who loves hiking and exploring the outdoors.

4. Fiskardo Village

Located on the northern tip of Kefalonia, Fiskardo is famous for its traditional architecture and vibrant harbor. Wander along the waterfront, enjoy a coffee at a café, or take a boat trip to explore nearby hidden coves. Fiskardo retains its charm from before the 1953 earthquake, making it one of the island’s most photogenic spots.

5. Melissani Cave & Lake

Experience one of Kefalonia’s natural wonders with a visit to Melissani Cave. Take a boat tour through the subterranean lake and marvel at the turquoise waters illuminated by sunlight streaming through the cave ceiling. It’s a magical experience for families and couples and is a great place to get some incredible photos too!
