If you’re dreaming of a holiday that blends breathtaking scenery, fascinating history and relaxed Mediterranean charm, our walking holiday in Kefalonia offers exactly that. This isn’t just about walking – it’s about experiencing the hidden corners of Kefalonia.
From coastal trails and mountain peaks to hidden villages and crystal clear swimming spots, here’s what your week will look like.

Arrival Day – Settle Into Island Life
Your holiday begins the moment you land. After a short 45-minute transfer, you’ll arrive at the welcoming Lixouri Bay Beach Club.
Expect a warm Greek welcome, complete with drinks, a chance to unwind by the pool and an introduction to your week ahead. You’ll meet your local guides, George and Joanna, who will bring the island’s stories and landscapes to life throughout your stay.
Your first evening finishes with a delicious, freshly prepared meal – setting the tone for the days ahead.

Day 1 – Atheras Walk: Myth & Coastal Beauty (6 miles + swim)
Step straight into legend as you explore the Paliki peninsula – an area some researchers believe could be the real home of Odysseus from The Odyssey.
Following ancient goat paths across rugged hills, you’ll uncover hidden plains and sites linked to this epic tale. The walk is rich in atmosphere, combining history with sweeping views over Atheras Bay.
The reward? A refreshing swim in crystal clear waters – your first taste of Kefalonia’s stunning coastline.

Day 2 – Assos Walk: Iconic Views & Venetian History (7 miles + swim)
Today’s walk showcases some of the island’s most dramatic scenery. Starting along the coastal road to Fiscardo, you’ll descend through olive groves and cypress trees toward the postcard perfect village of Assos.
With its colourful houses, natural harbour, and Venetian fortress, Assos is one of Kefalonia’s true highlights. You’ll explore the ruins above the village before enjoying free time to swim or wander the harbour at your own pace.

Day 3 – Paliki Walk: Authentic Greece (7.5 miles + swim)
This is where you’ll experience the “real” Greece – far from the crowds. Walking through peaceful valleys, vineyards, and traditional villages like Skineas and Kaminarata, you’ll feel as though time has stood still.
Expect cobbled streets, flower filled lanes, and panoramic views stretching across the peninsula. The route also passes through Rifi, known for its Venetian architecture, before finishing near the stunning Petani Beach – perfect for a well-earned swim.

Day 4 – Free Day: Relax or Explore
Today is yours to enjoy however you like.
Relax by the pool, unwind on the beach, make use of the inclusive watersports or explore further afield. You might choose to visit Argostoli, where you can browse local shops, visit museums, and even spot sea turtles in the harbour.

Day 5 – Mount Aenos: Peaks & Wine (4.5 miles + winery)
Today’s walk takes you into Mount Aenos National Park, home to the island’s highest peak.
Surrounded by rare fir forests and abundant birdlife, you’ll enjoy spectacular views—on a clear day, you may even glimpse Corfu in the distance.
After the walk, you’ll visit the Monastery of Saint Gerasimos and sample local wine, including the island’s famous Robola.

Day 6 – Sami Walk: Coastlines, Ruins & Caves (5 miles)
Your final walk begins in Karavomilos, following the coastline to the lively port of Sami.
From here, you’ll head inland to explore ancient ruins and enjoy lunch with panoramic views. The route then leads you past the remains of the ancient city of Same before returning to Sami for a relaxed wander.
If time allows, you’ll also visit the impressive Drogarati Cave – a natural wonder that’s well worth seeing.
