For single travellers looking for a shared yacht and a private cabin, our popular Introduction to Yachting holidays offer the chance to spend a week yacht sailing in the Ionian and meet like-minded sailors along the way.
We've been running these weeks from the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia for over 10 years. Our team helps hundreds of beginners get to grips with yacht sailing every year, and more importantly to really enjoy it in a proper holiday atmosphere.
Six sunny days on the water with a friendly skipper onboard. No previous sailing experience required, though a little time in dinghies or yachts is a head-start. The perfect flexible intro to yacht sailing in a stunning cruising area and the warm Ionian summer.

Food & drink
Meals are not included on the singles sailing week. You're encouraged to make the most of the Lixouri town food scene: a five-minute walk from the marina to a tight strip of bakeries, tavernas, mini-markets, cafés and ice-cream shops. Most guests pick up provisions for an onboard picnic on sailing days and eat out together in the evenings.

Eating as a crew
The food is not on the price list, but it is a big part of what makes the singles week work. Mornings over bakery coffee, long lunches at anchor with cheese and fresh bread, evenings pulled up to a long taverna table. Three or four nights in, you're no longer strangers.

Itinerary
A rough shape of the week. Your skipper sets the daily plan on arrival, balancing wind, crew confidence and theory time. Day 4 is usually the chartwork and theory refresh day.

Kefalonia
Kefalonia is one of a group of islands on the western side of Greece in the Ionian sea. It is the largest of the Ionian islands and parts of the island are now national parks, home to wild horses, golden eagles and other protected flora and fauna.
Getting there
Flights & transfers are not usually included in our holiday packages as we offer a bespoke travel experience. Many guests choose to book their flights with us for the peace of mind of an ATOL-protected package. Our ATOL licence is 12803.
Three fixed departure weeks in 2026: 7 May, 18 June and 10 September. Direct summer flights to Kefalonia (EFL) run from most UK airports. Pre-book a transfer with us on arrival, as the airport is often hectic.
Pre-book your arrival transfer and be met at the airport for a stress-free start. Many guests make their own way back at the end of the week (ferry from Lixouri across to Argostoli is 20 minutes, then a taxi to the airport). Prices: £70 private taxi one-way for 1 to 4, £95 minibus one-way for 4 to 8.

Most of our hotels run "Club Board": breakfast every day plus 4 evening meals per week. Villas are self-catering with an optional Club Board upgrade.

No — everything is turn-up-and-go. Watersports kit is on the beach free to use. Yoga and fitness sessions run to a weekly timetable posted on arrival.
Our instructors are RYA-qualified and used to total beginners. Many of our guests arrive having never been on the water and leave confident solo sailors.
