If you want to learn to sail, the Greek Ionian is about the best classroom there is: warm, sheltered water, short distances and a gentle, predictable breeze. On our learn-to-sail week you learn on your own exclusive yacht with a skipper aboard to teach you, not crammed onto a busy training boat.
How does a learn-to-sail holiday work?
You have your own Bavaria yacht for the week, with a friendly skipper aboard who teaches you as you sail. It is a 7-night week from Lixouri Marina in Kefalonia, with five full days of yacht sailing plus a chartwork and theory day. The skipper hops off each evening so you have the yacht to yourselves overnight.
What will I learn?
By the end of the week you will have handled the yacht under sail and engine, picked up the core skills of steering, sail trim, mooring and anchoring, and covered the basics of navigation and chartwork. The easy Ionian conditions mean you progress quickly without feeling out of your depth.
Can I get a sailing qualification?
Yes. There is an optional ICC (International Certificate of Competence) route, the qualification most often asked for when you go on to charter a yacht abroad. We are an RYA-recognised operator. Once you have the basics, a flotilla or a bareboat charter is your natural next step.
