Kayaking is the least ceremonious watersport we offer, and that is its charm. No lesson required, no rig to carry: anyone can grab a sit-on kayak and head out onto the water. On a coastline like Kefalonia's, that low barrier gets used all day long.
Why kayak in Greece?
Because the coast rewards it. The bays around Lixouri fold into coves, caves and beaches you can only reach from the water, and the sea in summer is warm and clear enough that you spend half the paddle looking straight down. Kayaks also join the weekly guided excursion as the alternative to a paddleboard, which suits anyone who prefers sitting to standing.
Kayaking with children
The doubles are the family workhorse: a parent in the back, a small paddler in the front, and suddenly a five year old is sea kayaking. Older children take singles out inside the bay under the eye of the water safety team. It is regularly the first watersport a child does entirely by themselves on the week.
Where to paddle
Lixouri Bay and the Villa Club put you on Kefalonia's Paliki coast; Stira Bay does the same on Evia's quiet west side. See the kayaking activity page for every holiday that includes it, or the wider paddle sports guide to pair it with SUP.
