The southern Ionian is a compact, sheltered cruising ground, which is exactly why it is so good for flotilla sailing. Island hops are short, anchorages are plentiful, and most evenings end stern-to on a quay with a taverna a few steps away.
Where do Ionian flotillas sail?
From our base at Sami in Kefalonia, the classic route takes in Ithaka, Lefkas, Kalamos and Meganissi, the heart of the southern Ionian. Days are short enough to leave time for swimming and lunch stops, and the lead crew suggest the best bays and harbours each morning at the briefing.
Is there a quieter Ionian route?
Yes. Our West Coast Flotilla is a one-way route along the west and north coast of Kefalonia and out into the Ionian, taking in quieter, off-the-beaten-track anchorages. It runs in June (Lixouri to Sami) and September (Sami to Lixouri) for qualified sailors who want something different.
What are the sailing conditions like?
