A flotilla holiday is a way of sailing where a small group of yachts follows the same route together, each yacht sailed by its own crew (you and your friends or family) but shepherded by an experienced lead crew on a separate boat. You get the independence of skippering your own yacht with help never far away.
How does a flotilla holiday work?
You and your group sail your own yacht, but you are not alone. The lead crew (typically a skipper, engineer and host) brief the route each day, suggest anchorages and tavernas, help with mooring, and are on call by radio if you need them. You choose how independent to be: sail with the group or peel off and meet up that evening.
Who is a flotilla holiday for?
Flotillas suit qualified or experienced sailors, families and groups of friends who want to sail their own yacht with support on hand. They are ideal if you can handle a yacht but do not yet want the full responsibility of a bareboat charter. If you have never sailed, a learn-to-sail week is the better start.
What is included on a BeyondBeach flotilla?
Our Ionian flotillas, the Kefalonia Flotilla and the one-way West Coast Flotilla, run from Kefalonia on our own fleet of 36 to 43ft yachts, as 7-night weeks with Thursday arrivals, May to October. Each week includes a comprehensive arrival briefing and practice session, lead-crew support across the whole route, a free stand-up paddleboard on every yacht, and a free tank of fuel. The classic route hops between Ithaka, Lefkas, Kalamos and Meganissi.
