Kefalonia's holiday season runs from May to October. It is warm and dry right through summer, but the sea temperature, crowds and wildlife shift across the season, so the best month depends on what you want from the week.
When is the season in Kefalonia?
May to October. Outside these months many beach and watersport operations wind down. Our beach club, villa and sailing holidays run across this window.
Which month is best to visit Kefalonia?
- May & June: green, warm and quieter, with the sea warming up. Great for activities and the start of turtle nesting.
- July & August: hottest and busiest, warmest sea, steadiest watersport breeze. Book early.
- September & October: warm sea, softer light, fewer crowds. A favourite for many returning guests.
What about sea turtles and wildlife?
Loggerhead turtles are around through the summer, feeding daily in Argostoli harbour and nesting on the south coast. For the detail, see our Kefalonia sea turtles guide and the best time to see them.
